Investing in Lives for Enduring Returns DTD Zeta Sigma Chapter I Delta Tau Delta Fraternity I Texas A&M University I Fall 2015 AGGIE DELT THE I hope this newsletter finds you and your families well as we enter another fall season. The House Corporation has been moving forward with many projects and events since the last time we updated you. It has been a pretty active year so far at the Shelter. We made the move to standardize the bedroom furniture in half of the tenant rooms this summer. Improvements to the exterior and interior continue to be addressed to preserve our investment in the future, and we could not do this without the local help of Robert Moritz '06. As mentioned in previous updates, the road was redone, which was a sizable investment, and is a really great addition to the Shelter and grounds. Brothers, the attendance at the summer workday was poor, granted the new alumni chairman from the chapter did not give advanced notice. We still welcome your support back to the Shelter. We are assessing whether or not this tradition will continue. Some key dates are on page 4 for this semester. Please come out and join us to see how Zeta Sigma has grown and lend a helping hand to support the chapter and its many programs. We are still eagerly looking for additions to our volunteer ranks and would love to have your involvement. Please let me know if you are interested in becoming part of our organization. I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events. As a child, fall Saturdays were devoted to A&M football. His grandfather, a former member of the Board of Regents, owned a box at Kyle Field, providing a family gathering spot. However, Will knew he wasn't ready for life at a major university after high school; a few poor decisions and lack of maturity set him back a bit. In Will's mind, and through his father's encouragement, his best option was to join the U.S. Navy. After enlisting, he served the next three years as a flight deck director aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71). Will participated in the opening attacks against Al Qaeda and the Taliban during the initial phases of Operation Enduring Freedom in October 2001. After three years, Will was honorably discharged in 2002. He could now revisit his dream of attending Texas A&M. He started at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth and maintained a 4.0 GPA. His finally became an Aggie in the fall of 2004 when he transferred to the Mays Business School. At the time, he was one of 75 accepted. At transfer camp, he met Ty Chumbley '06, a counselor who approached Will to join the Zeta Sigma Chapter. "It seemed like an interesting deal, so I went through rush and really liked the atmosphere and the guys I met," Will says. "They were a good group of down-to-earth guys. None of them fit the stereotypes associated with frat guys; it just suited me. Pledgeship solidified my choice when I met my pledge brothers. In fact, I just returned from what appears to be my last bachelor party for the last of my brothers to get married." The chapter provided the experience he was looking for to help him mature and grow as a member of an organization. The diversity of backgrounds and personalities helped him gain perspective and a deeper understanding of life outside his own experience. "[The fraternity] experience makes you stronger in the work force through allowing you to build the self-confidence to lead, and it provides an opportunity to be a part of certain decision-making processes, giving you an understanding of the delicate balance between risk management and risk taking," he says. Will said the greatest impact Zeta Sigma had on him was meeting his wife. He and a group of brothers went on a spring break cruise in 2005 and met Roques Ann, an undergraduate at Texas. Not wanting the relationship to end after the cruise, Will called her shortly after the trip and invited her to College Station the next weekend. The two married in the summer of 2008. After college, Will worked as a credit analyst at Comerica Bank in Dallas for three years until the economic crisis in 2008. He left the bank to team Alumnus Thankful for Zeta Sigma Experience Will Albritton '06 Lives His Dream of Being an Aggie (Continued on page 2)
