Two Public Open Houses will be held in an effort to accommodate the public: • Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. • Friday, Sept. 25 at 9:30 a.m. Where: Quartzsite Community Center, 295 Chandler St. Each Open House is expected to last 60 to 90 minutes and will include a Question-and-Answer session as well as an opportunity for attendees to provide feedback on transit service alternatives. The community meetings are part of the Town's Transit Feasibil- ity Study, a project funded by the Arizona Department of Transpor- tation (ADOT). The goal of the project is to identify cost-effective strategies for improving transit service in and around Quartzsite as well as between Quartzsite and other communities in La Paz County. Survey In recent days, a short survey designed to identify current and future transit/mobility needs was mailed to all post offi ce box holders in Quartzsite. The survey response deadline is September 11, 2015. Residents may return the survey via mail or at the information counter at Town Hall. All survey participants will be entered into a random drawing for one of several gift cards. For more information or to submit a comment online, please visit: http://quartzsitetransitstudy.com. Quartzsite Transit will provide rides to and from each of the work- shops on a space-available basis. To schedule a ride, please call (928) 927-4333. By Maggie Ross Most of us enjoy helping others whether it is our family, friends, or those in need. Many of you at- tended the Thrivent Action Team meeting that was held last month at Covenant Lutheran Church and found a way in which to empower yourself, receive $250.00 and help to make a difference in your com- munity. Thrivent Financial is a special not-for-profi t organization of Christians (open to all denomina- tions) that are available yes, to help do fi nancial planning for you and your family, but because they are a fraternal benefi t society, it allows them to direct monies that they would otherwise pay in taxes to support their local chapters and their members efforts to give back to their communities. Thrivent Ac- tion Teams are all about what you can do to help your COMMUNITY. By becoming an associate member for $19.95 a year you have the op- portunity to lead a team of like- minded folks to do a COMMUNITY service project. You will be pro- vided with $250.00 seed money, 25 Live Generously T-shirts, and other printed materials and a banner to complete your project. So far we have had three proj- ects approved. One to help the Quartzsite Food Bank by organiz- ing a food drive for their Senior Thanksgiving Baskets, another to provide canned meats and other food items for Isaiah 58's new food pantry and the third to provide a Santa and children's gift items at the Soup and Chowder Fest. Oth- ers are in the works and we have at least 12 people who have received their membership cards and are now ready to help local organiza- tions, churches, and individuals do a COMMUNITY service project. If you have questions or wish more information please contact Maggie Ross, (Local Thrivent Representa- tive) 360 490-8175 and become informed and involved. There will also be another Thrivent Meeting on November 14, 2015 at 9 Am at Covenant Lutheran Church on Cowell St. You can come and fi nd out more about Thrivent Financial and the Action Team Program. Those who have become associate members, we will have several folks and their computers available to help you put in your projects on-line. If you do not know what you want to help with, we can connect you with a commu- nity program that could use your help. We can do so much to help our COMMUNITY so please do not hesitate to call me and attend the next meeting.
