Yoga, an activ- ity that has existed for 5,000 years, has long been praised for its many health benefi ts. Here are some reasons why you should make like a tree and pose: • Yoga targets many components of physical fi tness, including strength, fl exibility and endurance. A series of yoga poses, one type of which is called a Sun Salutation, can be performed in place of or in addition to a workout. • It's easy to learn and practice yoga. All you need is a computer and a soft, fl at surface on which to do the stretches. You can fi nd online pose guides on websites such as yoga.com and yogajournal.com. Beginners should start with simple stretches such as the Downward Dog, the Cobra, and the Child Pose. • Yoga is a de-stressing activity. According to the American Yoga Associa- tion, yoga relieves tension from muscles and sends fresh oxygen circu- lating throughout the body. This results in a general feeling of relaxed happiness. This year's event will feature music from "Highway 95" band, the Soroptimist Int of Parker "Diva Bar", a classic car show, horseshoe tournament, chili pepper eating contest, and the famous beer chug- ging contest. This event has become a premier annual event for the Parker Area Chamber of Commerce and our partnering organizations (Parker Soroptimist Int, Parker Rotary Club, Colorado River Regional Crisis Shelter, and La Paz County Park). We encourage our members to be- come event sponsors. Sponsorship is an excellent way for businesses to support the community and organization with adding valuable advertising to your business. We are expecting a large crowd. As an event sponsor, we will provide a banner with your business name and logo or you may provide your own banner. Sponsorship banners are displayed during the event. As part of sponsorship, your busi- ness name and logo will go on the event shirts, depending on spon- sorship level. All sponsors receive chili tasting wristbands and event t-shirts. If you're a restaurant, maybe you'll want to let everyone know just how awesome your chili is at your restaurant. If you would like to become a spon- sor and have more questions, let us know. Just give us a call at (928) 669-2174 or you can email us at info@parkeraz.org. If you would like us to mail or email you a spon- sorship form, just let us know.
