Indiana Gamma undergraduate Leadership Plans Ambitious Semester Chapter Ranks among Top Five Fraternities on Campus T he Indiana Gamma Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon rounded off a great spring semester last year with numerous steps in the right direc- tion, including a strong new member class, excellent grades, and a fourth- place finish in the annual Little 500 race. As the new Eminent Archon of SAE Indiana Gamma, I can be nothing but proud of the progress we have made over the past year. Indiana Gamma held a GPA similar to the fall semester of 3.428, which earned us a second-place ranking for overall fra- ternity GPA. Focus on Philanthropy As a fraternity, we built a new courtyard fence, which allowed us to hold a concert philanthropy event with the women of Phi Mu, leading to donations of more than $8,000 for the Children's Miracle Network. Our fraternity was also named most improved organization at the annual Indiana University Dance Marathon, along with having member Grant Schultz '16 raise the highest individual amount of donations at $17,000. Also notable was a vic- tory achieved by Dan Wilkerson '18, Hayden Young '18 and Andrew Cowie '19, who won the IUDM basketball tournament at the event. Culture of Excellence, Expansion, and Involvement Our goals for the coming school year are to continue to establish a culture of excellence, expansion, and involvement. We have expanded the number of spots available in the Chapter house for this coming year, opening up space to have 76 brothers live-in compared to only 68 last year. More and more brothers are getting involved with campus leadership positions, in- cluding Geoff Ferguson '19, director of performances and entertainment for the Indiana University Union Board, and Blake Phelps '17, member of the IU Foundation Steering Committee. We plan to take a large, diverse fall new member class of 30 to 35 new members, as we had a smaller spring new member class. Goals for Improvement After great success at IUDM last year, we are excited to continue attend- ing the event in high numbers, hoping to beat out Phi Gamma Delta's do- nation and attendance numbers, which have reigned supreme for the past few years. We will also continue mounting Indiana Gamma history on our walls, as we plan to put up composites and other pieces of Gamma's past to further enrich our members with our fraternity's illustrious and proud history. We look forward to seeing you all in the fall at the Home- coming tailgate. Alumni Involvement Appreciated As the new school year approaches, we hope for alumni support and guid- ance with our future endeavors. Prior to the school year, we will complete our annual goal-setting executive leadership retreat in an effort to consoli- date our ambitions and plan out another great year. We have extraordinary goals for this year and the future, and any support we receive will only help us accomplish these things sooner. Feel free to contact me with any questions about the Chapter, and we look forward to another great year at SAE Indiana Gamma.
