Jenkins Smith, age 94, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012. Funeral services were held at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Bernice was born in Rutherford County, NC to the late Martin Ramsey and Anna Robbins Ramsey. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by two hus- bands, Will Jenkins and George Smith; one son, Jacky Yarbrough and six brothers and sisters. Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Ann Jenkins Digh and hus- band, Jack of Lincolnton, NC, Shelby, Jean Jenkins Gear of Gastonia, Yvonne "Midge" Jenkins Snow of Dallas, NC; two sons, J.W. Jenkins and wife Carolyn of Dublin, GA and Hubert "Butch" Jenkins, Sr. and wife, Eva of Gastonia; two sis- ters, Geneva Chapman, Kathleen Hayes and one brother, Paul Ramsey. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great grand- children and twenty-four great-great grandchil- dren. The family wishes to thank the Staff of the Alexandria Place for their loving care and compas- sion which was given to Bernice. MACK OSBORN MILLARD Mack Osborn Millard, 87, of Spindale, passed away Tuesday, February21, 2012. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Jim Millard and Bessie Sims Millard Harrill. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lucille Moore and hus- band James of Spindale, Martha Blackwell and hus- band Bud of Cliffside, and Mary Swink of Spindale; six grandchildren & eight great grandchildren. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Rosa Epley Millard, one son Larry Mack Millard as well as a number of other family members. Funeral services were held at Spencer Baptist Church. Interment fol- lowed in Eternal Hills Memorial Park (formerly Sunset Memorial Park). DWAIN IVAN CRAIN Dwain Ivan Crain, 47, of Ellenboro passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012. He was a native of Rutherford County, and the son of David "Eugene" Crain and Frances Mabel Price Crain. He worked as a custo- dian for Stonecutter until they closed. Memorial were held at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness with Rev. Jack Crain, Dr. Ken Hensley, and Linda Wyke officiat- ing. is caring for the family. DAVID LAWRENCE HENDERSON David Lawrence Henderson, 59, of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Elbert Henderson and Gladys Metcalf Henderson. He was a graduate of RS Central High School and Appalachian State University. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Lynn Hoffman Henderson of the home; daughter Lauren Elizabeth Henderson of Charlotte; son William David Henderson of the home; brothers Jim Henderson and wife Lisa of Rutherfordton, Alan Henderson and wife Sherry of Rutherfordton, John Henderson of Forest City; a number of nieces, one nephew, and two great nieces. Funeral services were held at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. A native of McDowell County, he was the son of the late Frank and Arrie Morgan Branscom. He was a retired textile employee, a member of Spencer Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army serving during World War Two. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Clara Dixon Branscom of Forest City; son Hicks Branscom Jr. of Forest City; daugh- Services ter Dianne McDonald and husband David of Charlotte; two grand- children Angela Wilson and Will Craig; two great grandchildren, Ashleigh Nolen and Chase Craig. A native of Rutherford County, he was born on March 22, 1919, a son of the late Clarence Martin and Lillie Brooks Martin. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Medford Martin; four daughters, JoAnn Knepp and husband Russ of Hickory, Vickie Redwine and husband Tom of Asheville, Rita Stanley and husband Mike of Forest City and Polly Stanberry and hus- band Cliff of Candler; one sister, Ollie McGuirt of Bostic; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchil- dren and two great-great grandchildren. Fran was born May 31, 1967 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Steve Holmes Wilkie and Alice Summers Wells. She was a graduate of East High School, class of 1975 and worked as a CNA in home health. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Scott Wilkie and an uncle, Thomas Summers. Besides her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Jessica Wilkie of Bostic; her fiancé, Mark Thomas Payne of Henrietta; two sis- ters, Carletta Pittman of cDonald David of Rutherfordton and Darla Bright and husband, Roger of Ellenboro; two brothers, Donald Wall of Henrietta and Chad Meadows of Bostic and one nephew, Blue Pittman of Rutherfordton. FLORA IBERA COLE Flora Ibera Cole, age 82, of Forest City, NC, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Ibera was born February 4, 1930 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Frank Allen and Ola Mae Harrill Allen. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Birl Cole; one son Rodger Cole and grand- son, Rodger Burl Cole. Survivors include one son, Richard Dee Cole and wife, Judy of Ellenboro; one brother, Bobby Allen and wife, Janie of Myrtle Beach, SC. ROGER NORRIS LEDFORD Roger Norris Ledford, age 60, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012. A memorial service was conducted. Roger was born November 11, 1951 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Clyde Ledford and Catherine Lawson Ledford Moore. He was a US Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Brandy Ledford and sister in-law, Helen Ledford. Survivors include three children, Roger Ledford and wife, Kim, Casey Ledford and Daniel "Cody" Ledford; step- mother, Francis Ledford; four brothers, Paul Ledford and wife, Geri, Jimmie Ledford, Johnny Moore and wife, Anne, and Robert Moore. Guynell was born July 13, 1914 in Landrum, SC to the late Henry Tilden Greene and Hulda Alice Donahoo Greene. She was a homemaker. She is survived by three daughters, Johanna Ruppe, Brenda Jean Ruppe and Teresa Ramsey; one sister, Alice Fortune of Bostic, NC and a grandson, Anthony Ramsey. A native of Cleveland County, she was born on July 27, 1922, a daughter of the late Frank Bailey and Betty Owens Bailey. In addition to her par- ents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Jones and fif- teen brothers and sisters. She is survived by her caregivers, Betty and Mike Jones and Courtney Jones.
