We hope that this gift strongly symbolizes our desire to see this project come to completion and further encourages participation from others. The new chapter house will provide brothers with a place to congregate, socialize, study, eat and live, and the amenities will encourage participation at an unprecedented level. Commitment by all is necessary to reap the benefits of the new facility. I challenge any brother to examine just how far the chapter has come in such a short period of time. The growth and development, on all fronts, is truly a testament to the capability and commitment of the undergraduates. Please stop by the existing house, visit with brothers and see exactly how this campaign will impact Texas Alpha." Amici, Jay Trapp '13 Outgoing Chapter President The active members have philanthropy at heart. From supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to making their own gift to the capital campaign, these men make us proud to be Texas Alphans. 1960s Brothers Come Together to Offer Challenge Grant A core group of brothers initiated during the 1960s are banding together to offer a challenge grant for all other Texas Alpha brothers initiated from 1960 through 1969. Brothers Robert Johnson '64, Trip Ruckman '64, Rhett Stone '65 and Gary Rodgers '67 are offering a dollar-for-dollar matching grant totaling $400,000 to inspire other '60s brothers to join in this important project. This generous group will match any pledge (payable over five years) made by '60s brothers, up to a total of $400,000, in an effort to raise a grand total of $800,000 and secure the naming rights of the new chapter room at 2501 Nueces. Once $800,000 is raised, the room will be dedicated to the brothers of the 1960s, and any '60s brother making a pledge of $10,000 or more over five years ($2,000 per year, fully tax deductible) will have his name permanently inscribed on what will be one of the best chapter rooms in a fraternity house in the United States. Gary Rodgers is leading this significant effort and will be in touch with the '60s brothers in the coming weeks. Interested '60s brothers are encouraged to contact Gary for details at gatorsspringer@austin.rr.com or (512) 291-7570. Construction on the new house is underway!
