"Mutual aid and assistance is one trait that I believe helps us all in our lives and career. Success, in any form, is rarely achieved on your own. Having strong relationships with family, friends, and colleagues is the foundation for personal growth," he says. Gordy recently relocated to New York from San Francisco and, to his surprise, he moved into the same building as Nate Rice '98. "What a terrific feeling knowing that I had a brother close by," Gordy marvels. Additionally, he took part in establishing the Beta Theta Pi Alumni Association of New York. Because of his quality experience as a collegian and ongoing involvement as an alumnus, Gordy felt it was essential to give back to the capital campaign. He is certain these efforts will impact Beta Pi brothers and their community brothers for years to come. "It's our responsibility to build bridges for those brothers that follow us. Please do what you can—in time, treasury or talent—to support the future success and achievements of Beta Pi and our brothers." He looks forward to seeing the development of the house, since it is such a vital part of the men's experience in Beta Theta Pi. "The chapter house is the heart of the fraternity. Having a central place to come together for ritual, educational, and social endeavors is critical for the long-term growth and success of Beta Pi," Gordy says. He married his husband, Brian, in September 2014. They live in Manhattan with their two "kids," a pit bull named Brady and a French bulldog puppy named Harry. "We're getting a little less sleep these days, but enjoying life to its fullest," Gordy adds. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with Brian, his brothers, traveling to new places, and exploring New York. Commitments are still needed from the rest of our alumni to achieve our $750,000 goal. All donors contributing a minimum of $2,500 to the campaign, over a five- year period, will be recognized on a plaque prominently displayed in the chapter house, and all donors will be recognized on printed publications of donor lists.
