The blood drive will take place from 10:00AM – 1:30PM at Crestview Park in Rutherfordton. Whiteside is fi ve years old and currently batting Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), with which he was diagnosed on Aug. 12, 2015. He has already received blood products and platelets in the past two weeks. During the Tournament, participants can donate funds to help the Whitesides Family with medical costs and also donate blood with CBCC to help meet the needs of local patients. "Cancer patients are the number one recipients of blood products, so this blood drive is a powerful way to support Colby [Whiteside] and other local patients in our area hospitals," said Miranda Cole, a CBCC donor recruiter who is helping coordinate this blood drive. "We are honored to be part of this Pumpkin Ball Tournament and the community's efforts to make a difference for those who rely on life-saving blood as part of their medical treatment."
