SIGMA ALPHA EPSILON AUBURN UNIVERSITY 2 T he undergraduate chapter is promoting the highest standards of friendship, scholarship, and service for our members based upon the ideals set forth by our founders. As you know, gentlemanliness is the starting point and the indispensable quality of lasting friendships. While there may be some differences in today's chapter compared to the one you knew, all Sigma Alpha Epsilon alumni can be proud of the legacy we have helped create and the historical quality of our chapter that continues to date. e chapter plays a significant role in the personal and professional development of its members and this growth is crucial in today's competitive world. e men of SAE at Auburn have been and continue to be leaders and this is a true testament to the support brought forth by our exceptional alumni. With a membership exceeding 150, the collegians have enhanced their philanthropic focus. Each active member participates in the organizing and execution of the Lee County Special Olympics. Additionally, they contribute with three other fraternities in hosting Heroes Week at Auburn benefiting Gameday for Heroes, a non-profit organization that helps wounded, active duty and veteran military personnel experience a college sporting event with their families to the fullest. e True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe. – John Walter Wayland ALABAMA ALPHA MU CONTINUES Our True Gentleman Values
