FAYETTEVILLE faces OF PATRICIA TIMMONS-GOODSON, Associate Justice, Supreme Court of North Carolina since February 2006, has lived in Fay- etteville since 1968, when her father retired from the Army. "My perception is that our city is more physically attractive and it also seems to me that we now do a better job of communicating the positive features of our community," she said. In her limited spare time Patricia enjoys reading, golf, and travel. She is nearing completion of a compelling book, Scorpions, by Noah Feld. The nonfiction book is about the political history of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's four greatest Supreme Court Justices. VALERIE JACKSON, Membership Director, Girl Scouts, North Carolina Coastal Plains Valerie has been a Fayetteville resident for 10 years and loves the area most for its diverse food offerings and the historic down- town. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and practices the art of Ninjitsu. "It's empowering and it takes you out of your element, it's a chal- lenge," she said. Valerie's favorite music embodies 'girl power' with performers like Bonnie Raitt, Jewel, Fiona Appel and Sugarland. ALICIA CHISHOLM has resided in Fayetteville for nearly 45 years. She is currently Vice Chair, Cumberland County School Board for the Cumberland County School District. "I like the remodeling that has taken place downtown. The shops, the Arts Council with wonderful displays - I also like the schools and we have improved greatly over the years," commented Alicia about why she enjoys Fayetteville. Her favorite book is the Bible and she shared that she really draws encouragement from the Psalms and Proverbs in her own life. "There is always hope and it strengthens your faith.
