Sarah Moorman, a troop leader for troop #547, is in her fourth year and the group has 12 girls that have met for the past four years. The girls are now at the Junior Girl Scout level. "Girl Scouting is an opportunity to make new friends, to serve in leadership roles, experience new things and the kids are able to take advantage of those opportunities," said Moorman. "It opens their eyes to the needs of others through the community service projects that we do." Last year troop #547 took their cookie money and a calculator to the store to buy items for the food pantry. Two years ago they purchased toys for the children in the hospital. "It's about doing for others and that they are a part of a community to make it a better place for everybody," said Moorman. CityViewNC.com | 65 Photography by Byron Jones
