publisher's note T Women in Business T issue has a special section spotlighting Women in Business. This is dear to my heart, but sometimes with great anxiety. My wife, Sandee has been a major part of our business life since the 1980's. We had an insurance administration business for over thirty years and she operated a particu- lar section that required great attention to detail. She did an excellent job, but we did not always see eye-to-eye on business matters, however, she prevailed most times. She is currently the managing editor of CityView and her pa- tience with the editorial process is invaluable. Women see things much differently than men and it gives us a better balance in business, even if we don't like the suggestions they give us from time to time. Our magazine would not be the success it is today without the women who run it. We have eleven employees with only three men, so you can see which sex does most of the work at CityView. My mother is another example of a woman in business. She came to Fayetteville at eighteen years old aſter being transferred from New Jersey to work for Western Union. Aſter a few years she went to work for a local business per- son in Fayetteville until my brother and I were born. Then, aſter a hiatus of several years, she helped start a very suc- cessful local insurance premium finance company in our home, which grew later to over one hundred employees his and was sold to a national firm in 1972, (which I wrote about when my mother died in November 2008). The busi- ness work ethic my brother and I have today came mostly from our mother. I think about all the women in the business world and look at history and see that this country could not have gotten through World War II if it were not for the hard working women who were leſt here during the war when many of the men were gone. Those women worked in fac- tories, gas stations, mills and performed duties in nearly every walk of life. So, when you read about these women in business today, think about how important they are to our economy. Without them we would be in a quandary. Thank God for the women in our lives, in more ways than one. CityView Introduction: CityView is pleased to an- nounce the addition of two new staff members.
