Applications are due by August 31, 2015 by 4:30 p.m. According to the Town's website, "We understand the value of dona- tions from the Town to support local activities and it is our hope that the new Town Economic Community Out- reach Funding procedures will provide Town offers funds for non-profits By Joanne Winer The Town of Quartzsite has partnered with the Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG) to provide Free trans- portation on the Town buses and van!! WACOG donated 5283 tickets ($3.00 each) to the Town for the use of residents going to specifi c destinations for FREE. To qualify, you must have a monthly income of up to $973.00 for a single household, or up to $1311.00 for a two person fam- ily. The stipulations for getting the pass is the income qualifi ca- tions AND you have to use them to either go for Medical or Food, such as doctor's appointments, go to the pharmacy, or to the Senior Citi- zens Center (for their lunch and other activities). You may do other errands as well as long as one of your stops is the pharmacy, Senior Center or doctor's appointments. These tickets are given out in blocks of 20-25, and after they are all used up you can go back and get more if you are qualifi ed. You will have to go to Town Hall and bring in some proof of identity and in- come. The Town currently has two buses with 8 passenger capacity and has a mobility chair lift (means less seats with wheelchair includ- ed), and a van that takes 6 but does not have a lift. With the Senior Center open for great lunches every weekday at 12:00 p.m, this is a great opportunity for getting out and enjoying some company and good food!! They also have lots of other activities as well. The Camel Express Transit Service is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and all you have to do is get to Town Hall to sign up (also free ride if needed), and pick up your tickets. Then when you need to use them, just call Town Hall at 928-927-4333 to reserve a seat. What a great help to some of our senior residents who are on a low income level where every penny counts and sometimes one thing has to be put off due to lack of even $3.00 for a ride!! If you are one of the lucky seniors who qualify for this great program, this will make a big dif- ference in being able to get out and about without costing you anything!! Please contact Janet Collier, Transit Coordinator for any further questions or informa- tion--and a big thanks to WACOG for their continued partnership and support! a fair process where all non-profi t organizations will receive timely and equal consideration." This year letters will not be sent to previous applicants. The funds are open to any non-profi t. Applications can be found on the Town's website at www.ci.guartzsite. az.us or at the Town Hall at 465 N. Plymouth Avenue, Quartzsite, AZ. Town Hall has free passes for Camel Express for qualified residents
