Stamford and Roxbury Saturday, Jan. 21 PIZZA PARTY Mama Maria's at 26817 State Route 23 is in a large, brightly lit building right before you drive into the village of Stamford from Oneonta. It serves traditional Italian-Amer- ican fare in a casual setting, complete with booths. It was a satisfying beginning to an evening out in Delaware County _ especial- ly the complimentary basket of garlic knots. GUITAR VIRTUOSITY Guitar player James Willard performing at Stamford's Kaaterskill House, a charming coffee house across from Stamford Central School, was the kingpin of Jan. 21's Roadside Adventure. The Kaaterskill House, at 18 River St., is cozy and comfortable. We brought our own beer to enjoy Willard, and even learned to play chess from 10-year-old Caeden, who is know to challenge visitors to matches. NIGHTCAP After a couple of hours of soothing guitar THE MISSING PIECE. YOU ARE 10 O-Town Scene Feb. 9, 2012 and beating a child at board games, we drove 20 minutes up the road to Roxbury's Public Lounge, a surprisingly hip bar and restaurant on Bridge Street next to award- winning boutique hotel The Roxbury Motel. When we got there around 11 p.m., dinner service had ended, but we sipped a few of The Public's house cocktails, like the Belle of the Bog (Absolute Peach, cranberry juice and Photos contributed orange juice). A delicious end to the evening.
