18 www.thejewelrybook.com "We wanted to create something that recalls the ocean and the beach culture of Miseno." Deeply infl uenced by a sense of place and the history of its people, Miseno is an artistic interpretation of lifestyle and tradition, including music. Miseno's second collection, the Raggi or "rays" collec- tion, is a tribute to the traditional Neapolitan song 'O sole mio' which translates to "my sunshine." Written in the late 1890s 'O sole mio' is one of the most famous Italian love songs and has been sung by the world's most renowned tenors as well as popular artists like Tony Bennett. "In Miseno we love the sun, we sing a lot, we are dramatic. Just like Naples. Like the beautiful chaos of coastline, beach, sun where we live," says Cardumuro. This year Miseno launched the even more personal col- lection, Ventaglio. While looking at family photos of his late mother, Cardamuro decided to celebrate her memory with a lovely and elegant design of an antique fan – much like the one she often carried. Especially meaningful to Cardamuro is the fact that his daughter Gabriella has joined the company and helped design the collection based on her grandmother's fan. "This piece of jewelry – the fan – it had to move," he explains. Movement is integral to Cardamuro's designs. "Every piece has to move with the woman…nothing can be stiff." To this end Cardamuro works with Gabriella, the design team, and their manufacturers from start to fi nish to ensure that each piece can be made true to his vision. The process is lengthy, thoughtful and completed entirely in Italy. "We want retailers to have something unique and differ- ent in their cases," says Cardarmuro. Jewelers spotted Miseno's unique offerings immediately. Important retailers around the U.S. started carrying Miseno's fresh interpretation of classic Italian jewelry for the well-trav- eled clientele who appreciates high-end, luxury goods. "We have been really blessed and honored with the retailers who have believed in our dream. We need them and cannot thank them enough," says Cardamuro as he lists some of his anchor stores including Gumps in San Francisco, A. Marek in Chicago, D'Amore Jewelers in New Jersey, Neiman Marcus, and Saks 5th Avenue. After the highly acclaimed launch of Ventaglio at Cou- ture in Las Vegas 2015, Cardamuro is focusing on one-of-a- kind collector pieces and sketching his visions for new designs in 2016. "Ideas are forming for our next collection," Cardamuro shares. "We are making sketches for two new collections but it is a little too soon to say," he says with playful delight. "We have to make sure the story works!" With such a strong debut, the industry will be eagerly awaiting Miseno's newest delights fresh from the sea.
