Welcome from the mayor Welcome to Corning, a great place to visit and live. Ideally located, Corning is just a short drive to almost any activity you would like to do. You live on the warm valley floor, with mountains, lakes, streams and the river just a short distance away. If you miss some of The Corning City Council , from left, are Councilwoman Darlene Dickison, Councilwoman Toni Parkins, Mayor Gary Strack, Councilman Dave Linnet and Vice Mayor John Leach. the things the big cities offer, they are just a short drive in any direction. Corning is also a city of very friendly people who still like to stop and talk and help each other. But the reason you come to Corning is the rural setting of a small town where you can get to know the people and enjoy the more relaxed way of life. You will have a chance to take part in the decisions that are made, because you will know and be able to talk to the local leaders. Corning has both top rated police and fire departments that are very active in the community and our schools offer great academic and athletic opportunities for all students. Corning has three week- long celebrations each year, May Madness Car Show in May, Olive Festival in August and Hometown Christmas in November. These events bring both locals and visitors to the downtown area for a fun time. Corning has a very rich and colorful history that just continues to grow with the city. It is this history, a well planned future and location, that I think make Corning the best place to live and visit in the North State. So I invite you to come and enjoy Corning. Mayor Gary R.
