I have though, been involved with the subject of death and dying for many years. Therefore, observation is my claim to whatever knowledge I possess. My experience has taught me that no family member is really "ready" for the death of a loved one. Whether it is due to a long extended illness or a tragic momentary occurrence, death always catches us unguarded. The days and months following our loss are fi lled with thoughts and emotions which sometimes cannot be explained by words. The greatest tool for recovery to a life of normality is something that I believe God gives to his children. This act of God's grace is called faith. Faith is the seed in which hope springs forth. Our faith in the character of a caring, capable and consistent heavenly Father is that which will carry us through the times of darkness and questioning. Just as a small child may not understand his father's actions, but down deep there is a confi dent trust in the father's love. The biblical truths of redemption, resurrection and restoration can only be personalized with the understanding that God loves us with an abundant and everlasting love. Faith assures us that when we cannot trust the hand of God, we can always trust the heart of God.
