Delta Chi Fraternity at Kansas State University
SUMMER 2015
T
he House Corporation has been
involved with the current chapter prior
to the chartering of the new group. Our
discussions with chapter members resulted in a
direction for housing outside of the 23 members
who live together in an apartment complex on
Vattier. That direction was to purchase a small
property to house a few members and all of our
memorabilia. That was accomplished with the
purchase of 1904 Grandview in November 2013.
We put down $100,000 and financed the
remaining $150,000 through a mortgage with
Commerce Bank. The property is cash flowing
with four members living in, along with an
assessment for the other chapter members. This
leaves us with about $240,000 in cash reserves
from the sale of the Sunset property for future
housing opportunities. The House Corporation
is in the process of setting up a conservative
investment account, with about $100,000 of these
reserves and about $30,000 from the chapter,
with our educational foundation president,
Carlton Getz '00, at Winter Harbor Advisors.
The undergraduates have taken on a number of
small repair and cosmetic improvement projects
to make the house usable for the chapter. The
House Corporation is planning some larger
projects to the property that include tree trimming
and removal, landscaping, and a second-floor
bathroom renovation. We remember how much
having a community living environment with a
central location to hang composites and display
awards meant to us as undergraduates. We will
continue to work with the chapter to assist them
in their housing needs.
As always, we welcome you to come back to
campus and visit the chapter house. Please let
chapter president, Davis Millard '17, know if
you'll be stopping by and we will arrange a quick
tour. This is your chapter house too!
Fraternally,
