Delta Xi Celebrates Centennial Anniversary at Mizzou Ensure Tri Delta Remains for the Next 100 Years by Donating to the Capital Campaign Today I t was a very exciting weekend for more than 230 women who attended our centennial celebration in Columbia on April 17-19. A welcome reception and cocktail time was held on Friday night. Many concluded the evening by attending pledge class dinners. Alumnae Tour Updated Chapter House Saturday was busy at 901 Richmond! The archival committee worked hard to collect and display artifacts from each era, which were set up downstairs in the old dining room. Collegiate members took alumnae on house tours and pointed out all of the new improvements, changes, and additions. Alumnae were excited to see their old rooms. A Circle Degree ceremony was held for those members who had not taken it when they graduated, and brunch was held in the beautiful new centennial hall of the house. Many members commented that they were ready to move back in. Trolley rides touring campus and downtown Columbia were available to those attending. Tri Delta's National President, Phyllis Durbin Grissom, SMU '90, attended both the Friday cocktail party and Saturday brunch. Phyllis presented the chapter with a commemorative plate and certificate to honor our 100 years at Mizzou. 25-Year Members Recognized at Centennial Dinner The event culminated on Saturday evening at the Mizzou Alumni Center. A cocktail hour was held with songs of the eras played on the piano by Suzie Parker Nichols '65. Dinner was served in the dining room with Shelly Wooten Fair '90 as emcee. Melanie Collier '07 joined Shelly to share a lighthearted review of the chapter's history and how times have changed. Current and past House Corporation members were recognized, as were past chapter presidents. The class of '90 was recognized with 15 members celebrating their 25th anniversaries. Laura Smith '81 and Sanny Jackson Moore '52 presented 50-year pins to nine members of the Golden Circle class of 1965, and 40 more 50-year-plus members, initiated from 1947 to 1964, joined in the ceremony. Capital campaign class leaders were also recognized for their service. Remarks were made by Chapter President Ashley Kent '12, former Mizzou Alumni Association President Pam Coldren Oberdiek '83, and Capital Campaign Chairperson Teresa Keith McKinney '72. Thank You, Volunteers A special thank-you to our centennial committee, Nancy Stough Hillhouse '67, Marie Nau Hunter '90, and Jane Rudolph McLaughlin '69, who served as our Tri-Chairs, so ably assisted by Sanny Jackson Moore '52, Tish Cleveland Kienker '68, Mary Jane Singleton Schnitker '59, Ellyn Fine Neise '61, Carol Ruegge Powell '61, Cinda Bailey Dowell '85, and Teresa Keith McKinney '72. $100,000 Still Needed for Capital Campaign Witnessing such special pride and love for Delta Xi Chapter during the centennial weekend made me feel confident that, with the support of our dedicated sisters, we can reach our $1 million campaign goal. To date, we have raised $899,078, which means we are just over $1,000 away from crossing the $900,000 milestone, and $100,000 from our overall goal. Can You Spare $8.43 a Month? It is truly vital that we raise this remaining amount. So how do we achieve this? In April, 230 sisters attended our centennial event and if every one of these sisters committed to $100 a year for five years, that would total $115,000. We would reach our goal! Just think, $100 a year only comes to $8.34 a month—an amount we often spend without blinking an eye on everyday non-necessary items. Payment can be effortless through our online giving form. Set up your recurring monthly contribution at http:// tridelta-mizzou.com. If you have already contributed to Delta Xi, I ask that you consider an additional gift of $8.34 a month for five years. If you have yet to come aboard, now is the time! Please use the enclosed pledge card to ensure your name becomes a part of Delta Xi's history for the next 100 years. Delta Love, Teresa Keith McKinney '72 Campaign Chairman tkmckin@gmail.com
