Inside: Join Your Brothers t 2 T-Bone McDonald '48 t 3 Chapter Counselor's Report t 5 Alpha Artery A PUBLICATION FOR ALUMNI OF OKLAHOMA ALPHA t SIGMA PHI EPSILON SPRING 2015 OK Alpha Brothers, What Are You Waiting For? $1,179,116 Raised toward Capital Campaign, More Needed to Make Our Project a Reality I n 2014 we launched an initiation class challenge, which drew to a close on December 31. After months of competition, we are excited to announce that the winning classes are: • 1953 with the highest percent of participation (45%) and • 1974 with the most total dollars raised ($152,500). Congratulations, brothers, on your win and rights to name a room of your choice in the new chapter house. Our fundraising has now reached close to $1,179,116 from 113 contributors, representing just 8.5% or our alumni base. Compared to the 25% average participation of other Greek organizations, we know Oklahoma Alpha can do better because of our common bond. Realizing that each of us has personal situations that may limit how much we can contribute toward this important housing project, is there any reason why we shouldn't be able to reach 25% participation in our capital campaign? That would mean another 17% of the alumni base or another 89 contributors. Most will acknowledge that their SigEp experience was and is a positive one, and that experience has been helpful in their careers. So, what are you waiting for? Your gifts are still needed to assist with building a new home for OK Alpha Chapter. So, we ask that you please send in your five-year pledge now using the envelope that is included with this newsletter. All gifts of $2,500 ($500 per year for five years) or more will be acknowledged on a donor plaque in the chapter house. If you have already contributed to the campaign, we ask that you consider increasing your pledge, or to the next, higher level of giving. Your additional contributions are always welcome. We are sure that many of you have considered contributing to the campaign, but have yet to do so. If you have been contemplating a gift to OK Alpha, please return it today using the enclosed envelope. What are you waiting for? The original OK Alpha house was built in 1978, 37 years ago, and was home to hundreds of SigEp brothers. There is no reason why the newly rebuilt house won't last for another 37 years. Your contribution is a long-term investment that will contribute to the education of hundreds of new SigEps. Fraternally, Gary Bridwell '74 Campaign Co-Chairman Jim Blazer '67 Campaign Co-Chairman Jeff Linihan '85 Campaign Co-Chairman Donate today at Why I Gave SigEp provided me what I needed as a 17-year- old freshman at OSU, including a warm home environment, an instant family of brothers, discipline to learn, resources/knowledge from upperclassmen who had traveled the road, civic duty work days, sports, social events, and camaraderie. The capital campaign provided me an opportunity to give back to Oklahoma Alpha what was life changing for me. I want my contribution to help provide for future SigEps what I experienced at OSU, in a facility that is built for success and better than any other on campus. All SigEp alumni should be a part of the capital campaign no matter what the amount. We are all brothers and each of us received a positive benefit of some kind to improve our lives, whether great or small. SigEps should have a desire to pay back something to enable others to have the same opportunity." -Terry Stewart '71 " "
