D I A M O N D E M P O W E R M E N T F U N D This May, the Diamond Empowerment Fund (D.E.F.) will once again kick-off the 2015 JCK weekend with its Diamonds in the Sky gala in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bringing together key infl uencers in the diamond, jewelry, international government, and entertainment industries. Diamonds in the Sky Las Vegas is a unique, must-attend event that celebrates diamonds and the positive impacts made by the diamond industry on the communities where they do business. The gala will take place at the Four Seasons Ballroom on Thursday, May 28, 2015, beginning at 6:30pm. Premier Presenting Sponsors of the event include Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, Limited; De Beers Group of Companies; Rio Tinto; and Signet Jewelers Limited. This year's gala will honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of the Republic of India with the Diamond Empowerment Fund's 2015 Global Empowerment Salute. D.E.F. will recognize the exemplary global leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the Indian government for their signifi cant contributions to democracy, develop- ment, and the growth and expansion of the Indian and international diamond industries. True to its Diamonds Do Good message, the Diamond Empowerment Fund seeks to empower youth in diamond-producing countries and communities where the industry does business through access to higher education. Founded in 2007 by De Beers, entrepreneurs Russell Simmons and Dr. Benjamin Chavis, and leaders in the diamond and jewelry industries, D.E.F supports students in the following pro- grams: African Leadership Academy and CIDA City Campus in South Africa; the Botswana Top Achievers program; Diamond Development Initiative's Mobile School in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and students attending Veerayatan's colleges of Pharmacy, Engineering, and Business Administration in Gujarat, India.
