Vol. 63 No. 6 The Buckeye Phi Psi Phi Kappa Psi s The Ohio State University s Spring 2015 OHIO DELTA INSIDE: Alumni Spotlights ~ 2-3 • Ohio Delta Continues Partnership ~ 4 • Welcome, New Members ~ 5 Ohio Delta Celebrates National Championship Enjoy Football Saturdays at the Chapter House in 2015 fter a long, cold winter, central Ohioans are ready for warmer weather. This absolutely includes the 130 young men occupying both Chapter Houses on the corner of 14th and Indianola. Our undergraduates continue to excel on campus and hold a cumulative 3.22 GPA. In addition to handling their academic responsibilities, the young men hold leadership positions on IFC and other OSU-affiliated clubs. Furthermore, we continue to receive 100% collection of all dues from the undergraduate members. A special thanks to our treasurer, Sean Whalen '01. A bright and fortunate mark for Ohio Delta is our scholarship fund. Derek Hegarty '97 and the scholarship committee awarded $100,000 to our members this fall. We are fortunate that so many alumni have made contributions over the years to make this a reality. These scholarship disbursements range from $2,500 to $6,000 and are a big help to tide the rising costs of college. Management of the two Chapter Houses is a full-time job for members of our facilities committee. Chris Fahey '08 and Jake Wozniak '01 are deeply involved in several projects and completed a roof restoration project last fall. Charles Kimerline IV, Ohio Xi '11, joined Ohio Delta last fall as the graduate student live-in director and serves as a great resource to our undergraduate members. I would be remiss if I did not publicly thank our two Chapter advisors, Kyle Andrews '78 and Seth Porter '01. We are so fortunate to have the two greatest Chapter advisors in all of Phi Psi. Kyle and Seth are truly shaping our young members in a positive way. If you have a chance to be in contact with either one of them, please thank them for their service. Football Saturdays will now be a more "filling" experience beginning this upcoming football season. Depending on game time, we will host breakfast or lunch at the main Chapter House before each home game. Our new kitchen operator, Campus Cooks, will be preparing the meals. Campus Cooks is owned by Northwestern Phi Psi Bill Reeder. This will be a great opportunity to visit the facilities, meet our young men, and enjoy a bite to eat. Please make plans to attend these family-friendly events. Furthermore, Guy Spriggs '71 has started a great annual event inviting brothers from his era back to Columbus for a weekend of golf and football. I attended the Friday night event last fall and had a great time meeting men from the 1970s. If you have any interest in holding a similar event for brothers from your era, please contact us; we would be more than happy to help. Derek Hegarty and I will be planning a 20-year reunion in 2017 for brothers activated in 1997. As Coach Urban Meyer is blessed with an embarrassment of riches at the quarterback position, we too are blessed with an embarrassment of riches for Ohio Delta. Stay in touch. Fraternally, Gordon M.
