Valley Auto World BMW is set to
host the Fayetteville Academy Golf
Cup for technology on Saturday, May
2 at 11 a.m. at Gates Four Golf and
Country Club.
"We do a tournament every year,
which is the BMW golf classic," said
Angie Lindsey, development manager
of Valley Auto World BMW. "There will
be two people selected to move on to
the BMW Golf Cup National from our
local tournament." Lindsey added that
all BMW dealerships within North
America will go to Pinehurst in October
and those winners will compete against
each other. Those winners will move on
to BMW World Cup.
The local tournament has a $100
entry fee that includes cart and greens
fees, hole-in-one for a 2015 BMW X5,
closest to the pin for a day at the BMW
Performance Driving Center, a BMW
premium gift, golf clinic, BBQ awards
dinner, food and beverages.
"We have decided to give the pro-
ceeds to Fayetteville Academy's tech-
nology program," said Lindsey.
"There is a BMW X5 as a hole-in-one
and we are also giving away trips to the
BMW racing school and other prizes."
Two winners from this tournament
will qualify to compete at the 2015
BMW U.S. Final at Pinehurst Resort in
October. Players at the U.S. Final will
compete on an individual basis using
the Stableford Scoring System and 80
percent of their USGA handicap. The U.S.
Final participants will be divided into
three flights: men's low handicap (0-12),
men's high handicap (13+) and women's
handicap (0-28). One winner from each
division will advance to the BMW Golf
Cup International World Final 2015.
"We look forward to this golf tourna-
ment and hope for a huge turnout," said
Lindsey. Sponsorships are available.
Fayetteville Academy has been edu-
cating local students since 1970. The
school boasts a "unique learning envi-
ronment where children are encour-
aged to explore every opportunity, set
and exceed expectations, and expand
their knowledge base daily. Small class
sizes, a safe and caring atmosphere, and
numerous extracurricular activities
ensure that each child at the Academy
receives a unique educa-
tional experience."
This translates into a
100 percent acceptance
rate into colleges with more that $21
million college scholarships awarded
to Fayetteville Academy students since
2005. Hiring educators with advanced
degrees plays a part in it as does the 13
to 1 student-teacher ratio that the school
maintains. Staying competitive and pro-
viding students with the latest technolo-
gies also plays a part.
Ray Quesnel is the Head of Schools at
Fayetteville Academy and he has ear-
marked the funds for specific projects.
"This year we are going to do some
updgrades of comuters in the lower
school and wi-fi upgrades. Depending
how much we raise, we are trying to
fund a tech center on campus for online
classes that would be for the students in
the upper school," he said.
