5 and was the project liaison between Purdue University, the house corporation board, and the architect for the new south wing of the chapter house. She fondly recalls the groundbreaking ceremony. "The 80+ new chapter members from the 1976 recolonization pledge class were so spirited and eager!" Life caught up with Betty after that project and caused her to take a step back from some of her Sigma Kappa duties. "I was working full time, refurbishing my home, gardening a huge plot, serving on the Advisory Board and active with our church. And then in September of 1984, my husband died. I slowly worked through it all and chaired my last advisory board meeting in 1992 and retired in 1995, moving to Arkansas briefly in 1996 and returning to Indiana in 2003 to reside in Anderson, Indiana, near my nephew." "I've stopped by twice over the past few months to visit Betty and we converse for hours each time about Sigma Kappa, working in the field of design and construction 'back then and now', and our personal lives. Betty is a forever young spirit I have admired since I first met her in 1976! I look forward to future conversations and perhaps a little gardening with her this summer. She and I both concur that our best friends in life have been those from our collegiate years at Sigma Kappa. Betty continues to write to Sigma Kappa sisters from her era and would love to hear from you too. She can be reached at 132 Appian Way, Anderson, Indiana 46013." —Cinda Zimmack Terry '76 Groundbreaking for the addition to the chapter house.
