I'm Mary Ann, and this is my healing place.
When Mary Ann Smith fell and broke her rib, she was covered with bumps and
bruises. But as she healed, one large bump under her breast wouldn't go away.
Tests revealed a cancerous lump as big as a tennis ball. Having delivered all four
of her kids at Marin General Hospital, Mary Ann felt confident choosing the
Marin Cancer Institute for her treatment. She received a complete continuum
of care, beginning with chemotherapy to shrink the tumor as much as possible
before surgery. Then came a mastectomy, followed by radiation to eradicate any
errant cancer cells. A year after her surgery, Mary Ann returned to Marin General
Hospital for breast reconstruction using advanced oncoplastic surgery techniques.
Today, Mary Ann is cancer-free and can often be tapping into the healing power
of nature on her favorite beach.
