1 2 3 4 Or Leave it to the Pros
One way to simplify your to-do list this month is to shop in local businesses that provide beautiful gift wrapping with your purchase, saving you both the time and the headache. Let someone else do the wrapping and you'll be free to spend the night before Christmas with visions of sugarplums — instead of visions of tape and scissors — dancing in your head.
In addition to Betty Kelly's, several other local shops of- fer complimentary gift wrapping. We visited a couple to see what they use and recommend to fancy up your packages before putting it under the tree.
Holmes Fine Gifts often uses gift bags, but they wrap purchases for gifts in festive papers and bows. Diane Young, an employee of 28 years, says that garnishing is personal and many choices can be made or pur- chased. She gets creative at home when wrapping her own gifts and, instead of using traditional ribbon to tie the bows, she uses practical things like scarves that can be part of the gift.
The owner and staff at The Pilgrim are also experts at gift wrapping their items and adorn the gifts with key chains, ornaments or other things that can be bought in the store. They often personalize gifts with accom- panying trinkets — such as a rattle on a baby gift or an Eastern Carolina University (or Duke, NC State, etc.) keychain for presents intended for a college student.
