We are pleased to announce that Beta Omicron will officially begin recolonizing on the UT campus in fall 2015. In June, we will begin an interview process to select our Colony Development Coordinator (CDC), a leadership consultant from Beta Theta Pi who will guide the chapter through the recolonization process. In October, the CDC will begin recruiting our refounding father class on campus, which we hope to have initiated by January. The spring 2016 semester will begin the first chapter-led recruitment. Since beginning the recolonization process, the brotherhood has been energized and it has provided a sense of pride and excitement for our alumni. With recolonization underway, the need for alumni support is at an all-time high. Many of you have stayed connected to the University through membership in the alumni association, and we hope that you can find a way to support Beta Omicron as well. We need to work together to make Beta Omicron a brotherhood that alumni want to come back to and college men want to join. Alumni have been asking about what they can do to help Beta Omicron. Naturally, they expect to make a gift. Financial support is important and needed in the future; until that time comes we ask that brothers show their support in one of the following ways: Come home. Many of you come back for football games. Don't miss the opportunity to walk around campus and reconnect with your pledge brothers. Relive some great memories. Recruit members. Think about all the outstanding young people you know and encourage them to consider UT and, of course, Beta Theta Pi. Advocate for Beta. As a graduate, you have a vested interest in the well-being of your alma mater. Educate yourself on the great things going on at UT and Beta Omicron and share liberally. Preserving the tradition, legacy, and brotherhood of Beta Omicron and Beta Theta Pi remains our top priority as we launch this effort to reconnect. We continue to evaluate our housing situation and strategically plan for the future of the Chapter. With Greek life at the University of Texas stronger than ever, it is important for Beta Theta Pi to remain competitive with other fraternities and university housing options on campus. We are still in the planning stages but are excited to share some exciting ideas with you soon. Until then, we encourage you to reach out to brothers you haven't seen or talked to and reconnect with them. It's time for Beta Theta Pi to make changes for the better. It's time for us, as alumni, to work together and make positive changes in the Chapter. Thanks again for all you do for UT and Beta. Yours in –kai–, Mac Churchill '72 Louis Baldwin '71 mac@macchurchill.com louis@wacobendranch.com The Partnership Between Beta Omicron and the General Fraternity Alumni, We Need Your Help to See Beta Thrive W hile it's clear that Beta Theta Pi has changed in many ways since being founded, the principles remain the same: to build bonds of brotherhood and to develop young men into gentlemen. The modern fraternity man values brotherhood and integrity, but he also yearns for professional development and education that can't be taught in the classroom. How many of us can say a brother taught us how to tie a tie? What about who helped you write your first resume? Rest assured that these moments are still relevant today, but students are looking for even more professional support from their fraternity. As men begin their careers they lean on their chapter officers and advisors for support. With these positive developments, more support is needed than ever before from our national organization. The General Fraternity can provide state-of-the-art training and business development to ensure that men from across the nation will succeed long after leaving their university. As each Chapter has its own traditions, values from our Fraternity and professionalism are taught by experts so that these fundamentals are consistently taught to all Betas. The General Fraternity offers the superior experience that the modern student is looking for when pledging a Fraternity. TJ Hutchings, Gamma Phi '10, served as the colony development coordinator for the TCU chapter in 2011. He has worked with Mac Churchill '72 and Louis Baldwin '71 on outreach to Beta Omicron alumni in Houston and Austin. Trevor Voss, Gamma Nu '10, is the project manager for the Beta Omicron recolonization and will be overseeing the men employed to recruit the new members of the colony. You may reach to him at trevor.voss@beta.org with any questions. (Continued on page 2)
