Tau Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi Spring 2015 Tau Tales * S pring is here! While early flowers are starting to poke out of the snow and buds are appearing on the trees, our sorority sisters and the chapter house at KU are blooming, too! This is an exciting time to be part of the changes and transformations happening at 1600 Oxford Road. Let's Start at the Very Beginning After the 100th anniversary celebration in 2012, the Tau house corporation board wanted to capitalize on the energy and warm feelings of sisterhood to propel the chapter into the next 100 years at KU. In order to make sure that our collegiate sisters are as successful as possible, we realized that it was time to make some significant updates to the property. The kitchen was original to the house and, while it held so many great memories for so many of us, it was time for an update. The cabinetry in the bedrooms had taken a beating from hosting so many sisters throughout the years. Similarly, the main living room and sunroom were feeling a bit worn down. It was time for a makeover. Summer Kitchen Renovation The transformation started last summer when the entire kitchen was gutted to the studs and a sparkling, safe, efficient, and gorgeous kitchen came out of the rubble. The commercial kitchen now boasts new energy-efficient appliances and a hot/cold serving buffet. The collegians' hospitality kitchen is the best on campus. They have 24-hour access to gorgeous walnut-colored cabinetry with blue glass subway tile backsplash and quartz countertops where they can get snacks for brain food at any time of the day or night. In addition to the kitchen updates, the bedrooms were renovated with all new cabinetry, flooring, paint, ceiling tiles, and light fixtures. Parents Enhance Entryway In the meantime, the Parents' Club sponsored beautiful updates in the entry area. All new furniture, rug, light fixtures, and décor pieces greet visitors the minute they step inside the chapter house. Thank you, Anne Jarvis Miller '75 and Parents' Club! These changes com- plement the fresh, updated décor in the living room and sunroom that happened in the summer of 2013. Future Updates in Store More plans and dreams are on the docket. The time is right to invest in our sorority and our chapter house. The changes have created a buzz of excitement with our collegians. We are so grateful that you have embraced the Continuing Our Tradition, Securing Our Legacy campaign. As of March 3, we have secured $346,230 in donations from 307 donors! Make a Gift Today At this point, we are only $53,000 shy of our goal of $400,000. Will you consider being part of this exciting time and sending in a pledge? Any size donation is appreciated and together we can make a real difference. Your investment in our chapter house and our chapter at KU will position Tau for success in the future. We hope that spring welcomes you back to KU and to the chapter house. You are always invited!
