November 16, 2011 PERSPECTIVES FROM PAGE 15 They are damned if they do, damned if they don't. Look around it is all here in us, for us, it is our individual choice to make a stand for what is right, and more impor- tantly, what is morally and ethi- cally fair. As a sports enthusiast and in see- ing what is going on in Pro Basket- ball right now there are two really bad problems in pro sports these days. These problems aren't knee injuries and such or poor and in- consistent officiating, but the prob- lems are the lawyer/agent and the union leaders (representing the greed of athletes and their agents). Somehow it is so very eerie that we have over 500,000 Laws in this Land to enforce just Ten Commandments. When the AAA Truck breaks down, who tows that truck away? Did you ever wonder why today's paper towel dispensers are attached so high on the walls? Wouldn't it make more sense for them to be waist-high so the water doesn't trickle down your hands to your elbows as you reach up? Whether you are Mr. and Mrs. Average America, a Mr., a Mrs., or a Ms., trying to get along, follow along, lead along, or just be that different drummer, be happy with your choices. Sometimes we want to move mountains, but in reality we're lucky that we moved a grain of sand or a minor pebble. But in moving that first little pebble, you have started the outpouring of many which will move that mountain. Conundrums? At the very least. Moanings or Musings? You decide. Smile, it surely made me feel better. www.DesertMessenger.com Town Hall meeting Nov. 23 Quartzsite, AZ -The second Town Hall meeting of the season will be held on Wed. It is a moderated meeting and ques- tions should be submitted on cards, which will be provided. Arrive ear- ly...meeting will start on time. Re- freshments will be provided. A town hall meeting is an infor- mal public meeting. Everybody in a community is invited to attend, voice their opinions, and hear the responses from public figures and elected officials about shared sub- jects of interest, although attend- ees rarely vote on an issue. In today's heterogeneous commu- nities with large populations, more often, town hall meetings are held so that people can influence elected officials in their decision making or to give them a chance to feel that their voices are being heard.
