November 16, 2011 Perspectives Quirky Quartzsite's Contributed by Violet Kiss Moaning and Musing, I started thinking about these two words as I sit and type. We all have gripes and thoughts both that bewilder or befuddle us. So, I thought, "Let's look at this". You may agree or dis- agree, you may laugh (I hope, at times), think or simply say, "hmmmmmmm." Mr. and Mrs. Average, getting caught in the middle of life. They are confused, sad, angry, and not knowing who to be mad at. Their lifestyle has been just trying to get along and play by the rules. They are witnessing some of the most tragic, painful events in history and don't know where to put the bandage for healings sake. SWEET DARLENE'S RESTAURANT & BAKERY Thanksgiving Day! It has been rather simple. Mr. and Mrs. Average American got up every day and went about their business being Mr. and Mrs. America. No more. No longer are they "average", or silent as in the "si- lent majority". This already has gone on for decades. They are unhappy that they have to vote for a President that is the least harmful rather than the 'best', and not necessarily get whom they voted for. So if they did not get the least harmful, do you want to venture what they believe they actually got? Not me. Middle America have watched lobbyists and other power-merchants pandering government officials in playing with our and our future generations' lives. What we have paid for, will it still be there? What we are taxed on, does it really help? People demand more help, translating to more government involvement, further translating to more tax to 'fund' the programs, which, in turn, raises our debt ceiling to outrageous highs. Will this ever stop? They wonder why we are Page 15 in another unpopular tangled war when the other one is in such a mess, yet they are proud and honor active soldiers and veterans alike. Alarming talk of socialistic-type of change and envi- ronmental collapse is more than frightening. Middle America does not know what to do. They know they do not like it. They have tried to adapt to change. They are confused by the recession that has done everything but drive down the prices and the cost of living. They try to understand those that say law without justice is tyranny. Many have tried to listen to those "aroused" or "enlightened" people of the left and the flag-wavers of the right – but they have seen both sides shout down people and other speakers who do not suit their own views, so they wonder in amazement what do these others really mean by 'free speech'? Mr. and Mrs. America still looks for manners and de- cency, where have they gone? Where are pride, respect and tolerance? They are still looking for it all. It had existed, can we find it again?
