OSU Improves Retention Rates and Positively Affects Epsilon Chapter O hio State's Second-year Transforma- tional Experience Program (STEP) was developed as a continuation of the university's effort to expand on the student experience. It is designed to focus on student success, engagement with faculty, and expand on individual interests during the critical sec- ond year at Ohio State. Beginning autumn 2016, students will be required to live on cam- pus during their freshman and sophomore years in the new and expanded dormitories. STEP is designed to focus on student success and development and allows students the op- portunity to engage in activities that cater to their individual interests and needs. A cen- tral feature of STEP is giving participants the opportunity to engage with faculty outside of the classroom in one-on-one meetings, as well as in group settings. During their time together, STEP faculty members help stu- dents explore unique, education-enriching experiences. Students are also exposed to de- velopmental opportunities that assist in their professional and personal growth, including financial wellness programming. is program is part of the university's ongo- ing commitment to redefine the student ex- perience and has been developed to enhance student success, improve student engagement and satisfaction, and contribute to post-grad- uation success. e university recognizes that peer interaction among students is important to a residential community, so second-year students will re- side on all areas of campus, including fraternity and sorority housing pending specific require- ments. e Delta Gamma chapter house is on the approved STEP list thanks to the efforts of house corporation and chapter officers.
