ALPHA NU's Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi at The University of Texas H Spring 2015 Founded in 1884 Alpha Nu House Corporation Encourages Alumni to Reach Out and Reconnect I am pleased to report that the state of the Alpha Nu Chapter is strong and the Chapter continues to excel in all its endeavors. November 15 saw the initiation of 49 new Alpha Nu Sigma Chi brothers. This brings the total Chapter membership to well over 200. For 2015, a new slate of executive officers took charge. Last fall, Alpha Nu hosted a very successful Fight Night and raised more than $100,000 for their philanthropy. Over 100 alumni attended the event as VIPs. You, as Alpha Nu alumni, continue to reach out and reconnect with your Sigma Chi brothers, both old and new. Many of you have responded most generously to our request for scholarship donations for the undergraduate Chapter, and the Alpha Nu Scholarship Fund continues to grow. These funds directly benefit the undergraduates at Alpha Nu and all donations are fully tax deductible. Please step up and make a direct donation or annual pledge to this very important fund. I regret to inform you that Brother Arlen Driscoll '69 passed away in Houston on December 31, due to complications from ALS. Arlen served the House Corporation for many years as our secretary and was instrumental in advising and helping to get the Chapter back on campus in 2008. A White Rose ceremony was performed for Brother Driscoll—all honor to his name. To update you on Brother Audrey Freeman '84, he has been battling cancer and has been in and out of the hospital the last few months. He has lost a significant amount of weight and is currently residing at Stonebriar Assisted Living & Rehab in south Austin. He is showing some improvement and appreciates the frequent cards and visits from Alpha Nus. A portion of funds raised at this year's Freeman Classic Golf Tournament (April 25) will go directly to help Audrey with medical expenses. I hope more of you will be able to attend the Freeman Classic this year. Keep an eye out for more details soon. I encourage each of you to drop by 2701 Nueces anytime you are in Austin. And to close, I would like to invite you to attend the upcoming Annual Meeting of the House Corporation, here in Austin at the Sigma Chi House on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10 a.m. I know that the Three Great Aims of Sigma Chi are etched on all of our hearts—friendship, justice, and learning. Each of you has a lifelong commitment to Sigma Chi and its founding principles. Think back on your days at Alpha Nu and please continue reaching out and reconnecting. We are all brothers in Sigma Chi. The welcome mat is out anytime you are in Austin. In Hoc Signo Vinces, John C.
