The Open House and Ribbon Cutting gathering at Heather Caton's 540 Des- ert Vista in January was a big success. Over 60 people attending throughout the day to learn more about the Art of Tai Chi, see live demonstrations and even join in a lesson. There were draw- ings for give-aways and most of all, a chance to meet people in the commu- nity. "It was wonderful to meet so many great people in the community, I am grateful so many took the time to come out to say hi," said Heather Caton. Tai Chi, pronounced (TIE-CHEE) and (written as T'ai Chi, Taiji, Tai Chi Chuan) is a slow-motion, low-im- pact, weight-bearing, and aerobic, yet relaxing exercise. Hall 490 Moon Mountain Rd. Quartzsite, AZ. By Oney Budge We would like to Thank and intro- duce Our Silent Donors for their gra- cious gifts for the fund raising Raffl e prizes that bring hundreds of dollars for our community. Each year Robert (Earl) and his wife of 61 years Nadine Schmidt work months prior to the show on a hand-crafted wooden item. This year we have been gifted a 1930's classic Cadillac right down to red velvet seats for its passengers. Building these wooden treasures for 20 years, Earl prefers to donate them to fund-rais- ers rather than selling them. Yet some have sold for $700 - $800 and raised thousands of dollars at auctions. Earl and Nadine have been winter visitors of Quartzsite for the past 12 years. Re- tiring as Director of Security for a Util- ity Co. and working with the National Police Society, he and his wife have traveled from Orcas Island to winter with us. Last year Earl, Hardie's Bead and Jewelry, and Thunder Gourd Artist Pam and Tom Froom brought in $800. Come to the Art Show and enjoy the Artist Scavenger hunt, refreshments, door prizes of gift certifi cates from local businesses. Drawn every 20 min- utes! Plus, buy raffl e tickets for great gifts. This year's Raffl e Gifts are the 1930's Cadillac, a turquoise and silver pendant from Hardies Bead and Jewel- ry and Sunwest Silver Co. gifted Silver and Turquoise earrings to complete the Raffl e.
