(Reg. $6.99) By Joanne Winer Local musician Paul Winer, who owns the Reader's Oasis Bookstore has another great concert coming up at the Senior Citizens Center on Moon Moun- tain Road on January 23 starting at 7 p.m. Paul will be playing more music from his old days and some new songs as well, and will be accompanied this time by Buddy Apfel, who plays trom- bone and tuba along with Pauls' boogie and blues music. There will still be lots of laughs to go along with the music, but the show will feature many more songs that are new to some people as they haven't been played here for a long time. The doors will open at 6 p.m, the show starts at 7 p.m. and the cost is $10.00 per person. Be sure to get there early for a good seat and listen to some great music!! Paul is also going to be doing his two big shows at the Quartzsite Im- provement Association (Q.I.A.) again this year, on February 17. There will be two shows--2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and tickets are now on sale at the Q.I.A. and at Reader's Oasis Bookstore and are selling fast. Tickets will also be sold at the door for both shows an hour be- fore show time. Paul's show at the Q.I.A. still holds the record for the most people at a time, and the audiences love his sense of humor and stompin' boogie and blues music, with the occasional slow and poignant songs as well. He will be accompanied again this time by "Old Willie Boy"--boy- hood friend and virtuoso blues harmon- ica player Will Pirone who has fl own in for these concerts for the past several years and is always well received for his fantastic harmonica playing--they will be doing medleys of songs they used to play back in the 70s when they used to play together around the New England area. They both just had a great show back in New York City at Joe's Pub/The- ater and also two impromptu outdoors sessions in Washington Square Park and Union Square Park in New York, where they also wowed the crowds. Be sure to check out these great mu- sic concerts if you are looking for an evening of boogie woogie blues with a few laughs thrown in!!
