The Bouse Genealogical Society (BGS) welcomes Barbara Nuehring as guest speaker for their January 16, 2015 meeting at the La Paz County Park. The meeting starts at 9:30 am and will continue until 2:00 pm. The park is located at 7350 Riverside Drive, seven miles north of Parker. Operation Hero Comfort has been sending care packages to our troops in harm's way since 2006, and they just fi nished last month having their annual Silent Auction that helped raise money for postage and items needed for their 5 adopted units (they have had as many as 10 units at one time and never turn one down if possible). These units are all of different sizes-- some as many as 200 or more, some just 15 or more or less--they never know how many they are sending each month as they get new ones added and some coming back home. These troops have shown over the years just how much they appreciate everything that this organization has done for them and Operation Hero Comfort has the honor of having fl ags, certifi cates and letters from the troops sent back to them, which are proudly received. Some of the pack- ages are food items--non-perishables like crackers, cookies, candy, canned goods (no pork) jerky, gum, dried fruit and nuts, and many other items. The packages that are non-food are fi lled with books, magazines, writing paper, cards, games, CDs DVDs, toiletry items, hygiene items, and much more for both male and female soldiers. To raise more funds to help get these packages fi lled, OHC holds a Silent Auction each December, and this year's was a huge success. They also had received many items over the past year from friends (and others who wanted to help) for a huge yard sale that will be held next weekend on January 24 and 25. This event will be held at the Community Room at the Senior Apartments in the offi ce area. Operation Hero Comfort to hold Yard Sale for Troops Anyone who has anything they can donate for the sale is welcome to bring it to the offi ce before the sale and Anita will store it until they put it out on the weekend. The sale will start at 7 a.m. and go until 3 p.m. on both days or until they run out of things to sell (we hope). If you have anything you want to get rid of, or that you might be willing to give for this great cause, please take it to the offi ce--you can get there by going down Quail Trail from Plymouth or Riggles Road, and going east until you pass the Arroyos to the entrance to La Casas de Quartzsite and into the offi ce there. Our troops need to feel that they are supported and cared about, and you can help by donating or coming to the yard sale and fi nding something you need!! For any further informa- tion please call Anita at 763-639-9330 or 927-4292. Bouse Genies welcome speaker Ms. Nuehring, a professional geneal- ogy speaker, will present "Researching Your European Ancestors Without Crossing the Pond". The meeting is free, and is open to the public. After the general meeting and presentation there will be a bring-your-own sack lunch. Following lunch, attendees will have plenty of time to ask Ms. Nueh- ring and other BGS members ques- tions concerning genealogy research.
