Tax Relief Programs for permanent Arizona residents. The different types of programs available (just to name a few) are: • Property Tax Exemption for Widow, Widowers, and Disabled Persons (Ap- plication period begins the fi rst work- ing day in January through the end of February) • Property Tax Exemption for Non- Profi t Organizations (Application pe- riod begins the fi rst working day in January through the end of February) • Religious Property Exemption (Ap- plication period begins the fi rst work- ing day in January through the end of February) • Arizona's Historic Property Reduc- tion Program • Property Tax Exemption for Native Americans residing within the bound- aries of the Colorado River Indian Reservation and own property. (Noti- fi cations accepted throughout the cal- endar year.) • Property Tax Deferral program (Must be fi led by April 151 each year) • The Senior Valuation Protection Op- tion (aka the Valuation Freeze) for se- nior's 65 or over. (Application period begins March 1, application must be submitted by September 1 for the next 3 year period) For most programs the applica- tion period is between the months of January 1 and March 1 of each calen- dar year, the La Paz County Assessor accepts applications for the tax relief programs. Application forms for each type of program are available at La Paz Coun- ty Assessor's Offi ce starting at the end of December. During the application period, the La Paz County Assessor's staff will visit the outlying areas of La Paz County for your con- venience. Notifi cation to our taxpayers will be posted with the media such as radio, cable, newspaper, fl yers, etc. Let's take advantage of this service and watch for this announcement during the Holidays and throughout the ap- plication period. Each type of property tax relief pro- gram has certain guidelines that must be met before consideration, such as: Assessor's Corner Residency, household income, medical, total assessment value of property(s), age, property status, and for organiza ions, pre-requisites of exemption status. Widow and Widower Property Tax Exemptions ATTENTION WIDOWS AND WID- OWERS, the La Paz County Asses- sor will be accepting applications for Property Tax Exemption for Widow and Widowers, between the months of January 1 and March 1 of 2015. The ap- plications for Widows and Widowers are available at the County Assessor's Offi ce in the County in which your property is located. Are you an established and permanent resident of Arizona; have titled owner- ship of property to be exempted also: A copy of the spouses' death certifi cate must be on fi le with the County Record- ers, spouse must have been an Arizona resident at time of passing or you were a resident of Arizona prior to January 1, 1969. If you remarry, you no longer qualify for the exemption. 'Income from all sources' of the household Taxable and Non-Taxable will be reviewed. Did you know, that if you qualify, and you have excess or left over exemp- tion after the Assessor applies it to the property, you may apply the excess ex- emption to the Vehicle License Tax of your vehicles. But, you must be a titled owner of the vehicle and it must be reg- istered in the State of Arizona. During the Property Tax Exemption application period, the La Paz County Assessor's Offi ce visits some of the out- lying areas for your convenience and we notify our taxpayers through the me- dia, radio, public announcement, cable, and post cards.
