The Himalaya Mine was acquired in 1977 and was actively worked until 1998. Today, the Pala District Mines still produce some of the most beautiful and desirable watermelon, bi-color, and tri-color tourmalines in the world. Other colors of tourmaline that come from the Himalaya and Tourmaline Queen Mines are red, salmon, pink, blue, green, and teal. Bridge is a wonderful game that can be played at many levels both socially and competitively. This class is for beginners and those who played bridge long ago and need a refresher. We will start with the basics including learning point count, simple bidding, a few fundamental bidding conventions and cover basic play of the hand. We will focus on having fun, meet- ing new people the class will prepare you for play- ing at the social level. The text will be "Bridge in the 21st Century, published by the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League). The class will start on Monday, Jan 19th at Holiday Palms in Quartzsite from 9:30 to 11:30, the class will be repeated on Thursday, Janu- ary 22nd from 9:30 to 11:30 at Desert Shadows in Brenda. Classes will run for 6 weeks. There is no cost for the class, but a $5.00 fee for materials. The instructor will be Aileen Brock who can be reached at: bertaileen@gmail.com or 360-303-3660.
