By Joanne Winer The Quartzsite Business Chamber of Commerce wants to thank every- one who helped make this year's Light Parade such a huge success. When we lost our building at the end of August, a lot of people assumed that we would not be able to do our two main events for this end of the year--the Craft Festival and the Light Parade. We didn't get our new offi ce up and running until well into October, and knew it would be a big task to get both events going after all the work we had to do to get the building up and run- ning, but we wanted to be able to still do these two very important events that we sponsor each year. The Arts and Crafts Festival was a huge suc- cess again this year, and just a week later, we had planned for the Light Parade--but by just a two weeks before the parade there were only 3 entries, we thought we might have to cancel the parade and we were very sorry about that. Several people started making phone calls to last year's entries, and to anyone they could think of, and they also posted it on several Facebook and websites, and their hard work really ended up saving the parade, and we really thank them for all they did. SEE PARADE PHOTOS PAGE 39 We would also like to thank our Santa and Mrs. Claus, Marie and Ray Wister, for jumping in at the last minute after the Santa we were supposed to have had to cancel, and to the General Store for having the judges table out front. Thanks also to Isaiah 58 for providing hot chocolate to people watching the parade--it wasn't so cold this year, but it sure tasted good!! A special thanks to Sky- ler Miller and Town Hall employees who got the Town Hall ready for the crowd and provided all the refreshments after the parade. We thank the Quartzsite Police Dept and Quartzsite Fire Dept. for leading the parade, and also to the Ham opera- tors and Police Dept for making sure the roads were closed. A special thanks to Yesenia Jackson for bring- ing the PA, and to the judges Richard Trusty, Carol Kelley, Jessika Gardener, Linda Lambert, and Jane Boyles who did a great job. SEE PARADE PAGE 28
