publisher's note Thank You Fayetteville I n 2004 I founded William George Printing Company. CityView magazine came from an effort to diversify our printing business. Little did I know at the time I would leave the printing business in 2009 and become the full time publisher for CityView. I call it divine provi- dence because there is no such thing as a random accident in this world. Things were rocky when we first started. My first sales manager turned out to be not the person he said he was. Looking back it is quite funny. He had a very fancy resume with impressive education credentials and lots of experi- ence. It looked so good, we did not do a reference check — something I do every time now. When his behavior be- came so bizarre I decided to start checking him out. He did not go to any of the universities he stated on his resume and none of the former employers had ever heard of him. When I called Notre Dame, a woman in administration said I was not the first person to call about that person. She said, "How amazing that people would be that deceptive." In the early days our editor and art director were from Durham and came to our office about every two weeks, this was before the days of advanced technology, where every- thing could be done over the internet. We hired Sara Van- derclute as our first editor and she was from Fayetteville and had a great deal of editorial experience. Sara was with us until 2007 when Francis Hasty came aboard. In 2008, Allison Williams joined the company until 2010, when our current editors Rebekah Sanderlin and Kelly Twedell joined us. After the art director from Durham we used graphic art- ists in the pre-press area of William George for the layout of the magazine. They did a good job, but we needed a creative touch, which we got with Heather Malone. Heather took the magazine to a much higher level. She loved what she did and was very good at her job. All the changes in the fonts, colors, and layout were done by Heather. We are very thankful for her tenure with the company. Our current art director is Annette Winter, who comes to us with more than 15 years of experience in magazine design and layout. We are listing our long time advertisers in this issue because without them CityView would never have made it. They kept the faith and we are so ever grateful for their support. Also, the magazine would not have any advertisers at all if it were not for your readership. Thank you, Fayetteville, for your support. 10 | Anniversary Issue • 2011
