Box 1435 Farmington, AR 72730 Address Service Requested The Alpha Iota Messenger A PUBLICATION FOR ALUMNI OF ALPHA IOTA H ALPHA GAMMA RHO 6 we held our second-annual Miami Vice ('80s theme) function. We paired up with Beta Theta Pi to improve our interfraternal relationship. In October we also held a Dale Bumpers College faculty appreciation event where we invited all of the professors and staff members to pizza and drinks to show our continued support for agriculture academics and to strengthen our relationship with the Ag college. Fall EvEnts RaisE MonEy and awaREnEss On October 26, we held our fourth-annual Garret Uekman Golf Classic as our fall philanthropy. This event supports heart research and the Garret Uekman Foundation and Scholarship. We had a good turnout and all in attendance had a great time. Stonebridge Country Club has invited us back to host another event anytime we'd like. Reece Bailey '04 and Mark Waldrip '74 with Dr. Steve A. Halbrook at the Bumper's College Ap- preciation Event on October 9. T his semester has been filled with many activities for the actives of Alpha Iota. In August, we held several recruitment events, including skeet shooting the weekend before classes started and had a great turnout of more than 50 people. This led us into formal recruitment with strong momentum and resulted in 12 new members. We are very happy with this new member class and see a lot of leadership potential in both Alpha Gamma Rho and other organizations on campus. iMpRoving CaMpus involvEMEnt We were paired with Alpha Chi Omega for Homecoming and had great participation in all of the events. Although we did not place, we were able to meet many new people through the activities, and the sweet women of Alpha Chi were very pleased with our outstanding effort. Socially, we held our annual Harvest Moon campout function at the beginning of October and had another great turnout for that. AGR Remains stRong at aRkansas Alpha Iota Rounds Out Successful Fall Semester FutuRE oF aCadEMiCs looks BRight Academically, we are restructuring our grades policy and plan to significantly increase our GPA. This is something the executive team has worked hard at improving. We are excited for the future of Alpha Iota and appreciate the support our alumni have shown to help us create a lasting legacy at the University of Arkansas.
