During his service for such an extended period, Brother Shotwell has been keenly aware of the ups and downs Gamma Chi has gone through over the years. Regardless of the chapter's status, he has never wavered in his duty to serve his young brothers as a mentor and guidepost. Alumni and active members should strive for such upstanding character. Recently, Brother Shotwell stepped down from his post to focus on some health issues (which we're sure has nothing to do with mentoring more than sixty 20-year-olds). While this saddens both alumni and active brothers of Gamma Chi, we understand that Brother Shotwell's health and family must come first. Nonetheless, the men of Pi Kappa Alpha would like to express their most heartfelt thanks to him for his devoted patience, care, guidance and the steadfast faith he provided to his beloved Gamma Chi Chapter. A BIG Thanks to Brother Tommy Shotwell '89 efforts on behalf of Pi Kappa Alpha and Gamma Chi. If Lewie were here with us right now he would be amazed by how many alumni remembered their time in the chapter and in Stillwater. He would have a big smile on his face and would be shaking his head at the big dreams brothers have for his beloved fraternity." Today, Dick is the president and CEO of First Security Bank in Oklahoma City. In addition to his service with Gamma Chi, he has served as director for the Oklahoma Zoological Society as a trustee and chairman of the trust. He is also chairman of the Oklahoma County Finance Authority and next year will become the president of the Oklahoma City All Sports Association. In his spare time, Dick enjoys following OSU sports. "I love football season, not only for the games and the competition, but also as a chance to see me brothers and their families." If you would like to catch up with Dick, send him an e-mail at dbeshear@cox.net. Dick J. Beshear '73 (Continued from page 1) 7
