YOUR VEHICLE KidSenses Children's InterACTIVE Museum is pleased to announce the award of a $20,000 "People in Need" grant from The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina for its new "Youth Engaged with Science (Y.E.S.) Discovery Program." This grant will enable the museum to provide fun, exciting hands-on learning programs in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), free of charge, to over 8,000 individuals. Working in collaboration with the Asheville- Buncombe County Library, Burke County Library, McDowell County Library, Polk County Library, and Rutherford County Library systems, the museum will offer these programs at 20 library branches throughout 2015. Marketing activities for the program will be provided by the individual library branches. This generous grant from The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina will make Y.E.S. outreach programming accessible to all children, regardless of economic circumstance, and will provide the curriculum- based educational experiences to help students succeed in the classroom. Having recently celebrated its tenth year of operation, KidSenses Children's Museum has reached over a half- million individuals during the last decade. Over 35,000 children experience our dynamic outreach programs each year. By providing hands-on STEM enrichment programs the museum helps students realize their full potential in the sciences and inspires youth to possibly pursue a STEM based profession. The Y.E.S. Discovery Program is entirely funded by a grant from The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. KidSenses Children's InterACTIVE Museum is located at 172 N. Main Street, Rutherfordton. Museum Hours are Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday: 9am-5pm and Friday: 9am- 8pm. Closed on Sunday and Monday. General admission price is $5 per person and $3 for seniors 55 and up.
