10 | Food & Wine • 2009 Editor's Corner W e here at CityView enjoyed very much putting together this special Food and Wine issue of the magazine. It will be evident that we were assisted by the kindness and generosity of friends of the publication – how else could we have offered a real glimpse into beachside celebrations in Christmas at the Coast. We are very grateful to Nancy Haithcock and Terry Ciccone for their generosity of spirit and unmatched hospitality in offering up the setting, the recipes and the actual creation of the tempting foods you'll see in the piece. We're also grateful to Nick Parrous of Luigi's Italian Restaurant and Teresa Swint of Grapes and Hops for their informed recommendations on which wines would enhance the feast. Work on this issue was beginning just as Editor Allison Williams began a brief maternity leave upon the mid-September arrival of son, Patrick. Both Allison and Patrick, seen in the picture below, are doing fine, as are Dad Jason and Big Sister Sophia. We all wish Allison a serene beginning to this new phase of motherhood, and I am enjoying the opportunity to resume, briefly, an association with CityView as the interim editor. This issue focuses very intently on great food and wine, and the almost indefinable art of genuine hospitality. In this issue, you will read about Fayetteville's Greek community and how they make hospitality the fundamental ingredient in the many eateries they own or manage. These people are a very contributory part of our community, and it is a pleasure to focus on their special attributes. You'll also read about the rapidly-approaching Dickens Holiday Event, celebrating a decade this year of bringing a taste of Victorian times to downtown Fayetteville. Check out Inside Fayetteville to learn what events, exhibits, concerts, theater performances or parades are scheduled in the coming month or so that might interest you or your family and friends. The holiday season gets underway in earnest this month, with Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner. Part of the fun of any holiday is enjoying good food with family and good friends. May that be your experience this year! CV A VERITABLE SMORGASBORD OF INTERESTING ARTICLES Sara VanderClute
