T h e D e l T a C h i e D u C a T i o n a l F o u n D a T i o n Fall 2014 The KnighT erranT Spirit of Giving Continues through All Generations A s we celebrate our 60th anniversary*, I am proud to say that the Foundation is wrapping up one of its best years yet. Delta Chi is doing some amazing things and, because of the generosity of donors, the Foundation is able to support many of these efforts financially. Matching Gift Challenge Continues Our three-year "A"s' Academy challenge matches the first $70,000 raised in support of this program dollar-for-dollar with a gift from Steve Michels, Marquette '87. Funds raised and pledged this year offset the majority of the educational expenses associated with the Fraternity's premier personal and leadership development program. Full Scholarships Awarded For the seventh consecutive year, an undergraduate from each of Delta Chi's nine regions received a full scholarship and travel expenses to the North-American Interfraternity Conference's Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute. At this summer's Delta Chi International Convention, two undergraduates received Washburn Scholarships, three received Borelli Leadership Awards, and we recognized the first two chapter recipients of the 1890 Society participation award. New Chapter Scholarship Accounts Created At a chapter level, the Foundation continues to provide vehicles for alumni, family, and friends to direct donations to scholarship accounts and the educational portion of chapter house construction and operational expenses. In the past year, chapter scholarship accounts have been established for the American, Fullerton, Iowa State, and South Florida Chapters. Additionally, a chapter housing initiative account was recently established for the Michigan Chapter. Undergraduates Giving Back to Delta Chi Fostering a habit of giving has become a key initiative of the Foundation, as it pays dividends to the Fraternity in the future. Our first undergraduate giving program, the 1890 Society, has seen its membership grow significantly in year two, and we're beginning to experience support from members who are graduating and becoming alumni sponsors. Thanks Go to Each of You We couldn't do all of this without you. On behalf of the Fraternity and Foundation, thank you for all that you have done to support Delta Chi. To fulfill its mission in this increasingly competitive academic environment, Delta Chi is now focusing on a number of strategic programming initiatives. As the Foundation enters our seventh decade, help us help Delta Chi achieve these by becoming an 1890 Society alumni sponsor, Trustee Society member, or establishing a recurring gift. Most Fraternally, Jim Marascio, Bryant '93 President, The Delta Chi Education Foundation *The Delta Chi Educational Foundation was founded on November 26, 1954. Support Delta Chi. DELTA CHI'S 3RD ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CHAPTER MEETING CONFERENCE CALL January 28, 2015 T he Fraternity and Foundation continue to improve and increase communication with alumni. In 2013, more than 600 alumni participated in Delta Chi's first International Chapter Meeting conference call, and this year, more than 800 participated in the call in January. Both calls were led by Foundation President Jim Marascio, Bryant '93, "AA" and New Founder Miles Washburn, Massachusetts '87, and Executive Director Justin Sherman, Central Missouri '08, and we received great feedback from the brothers who were on the call. We are pleased to announce the next International Chapter Meeting conference call will be on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at 8 p.m. Eastern. The dial-in number will be (877) 229-8493, and the ID# is 110378. We will send an e-mail to everyone that we have a valid e-mail for on file. Everyone that we have a preferred phone number for will receive a reminder call the day before the event and at the time of the actual call. We want to be sure you receive advance information about this call, so please send your preferred phone number and e-mail address to fdnstaff@dcef.com.
