Please call 828-245-3954. OUTDOOR TRUTHS One of my favorite creations in our world is that thing we call a "day." You know, that 24 hours that comes to an end only to begin another 24 hours. Now I know it doesn't take much to intrigue me but this has always been something that I have given thought to. And if you think about it, it is one of the most refreshing things about life. In hunting or fi shing it doesn't mat- ter what yesterday was like, today is a new day. It doesn't mat- ter that I never saw a deer yesterday, today will be better. It doesn't matter if I didn't catch any fi sh yesterday, today may be the day they turn on. Again, if you really think about it hunters and fi shermen are men and women of optimism. If we were not we would never get up the next morning and do it all over again. Today is a creation that is meant to be one of promise and hope not dread and despair. It is meant to be a time for leaving the disappointments and discouragements of yester- day and holding on to the possibility of something better. It is also an opportunity to forget about the failures of days past and embrace new mercy. There is a very important verse in the Bible that says this; "Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each day." I really, really like that……. and you should too. Let me tell you why. Some of you right now really messed up yesterday. You made a promise that you broke. You perhaps succumbed to temptation. The determination that you thought you had, left you yesterday. The self-control that had been your ally sudden- ly abandoned you yesterday. But that was yesterday. Today is today. It is new. You do not have to bring the failures of yester- day with you today. God's mercies begin afresh each day! You now have a choice; you can either run from God, ashamed of the failures of the past, or you can run to Him with a heart-felt confession knowing that His faithfulness is great and that He has new mercy that He longs to show to you, afresh, beginning each and every day. The endowment fund for wildlife was a simple yet revolutionary idea: Create a lifetime inland fishing or hunting license. Put the license fees into a special fund. Spend the accrued interest, not the principal, on programs and projects that benefit fish and wildlife. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission has spent more than $50 million in interest on programs and projects since the endowment fund's inception. There are several types of lifetime licenses that may be purchased. The lifetime sportsman and lifetime comprehensive hunting licenses include the state waterfowl privilege. The lifetime comprehensive hunting and lifetime comprehensive inland fishing licenses are sold only to residents of North Carolina. Nonresidents may purchase the nonresident sportsman's license. There are no residency restrictions when purchasing the infant and youth licenses. You may also give a lifetime license as a gift. Simply complete the donor information on the application and the license will be mailed directly to you. All lifetime licenses are good for life. Even if you move out of North Carolina, you may use the license anytime you return to the state. Personalize Your Lifetime License - When purchasing a license, it may be personalized for an additional $5.00. There are up to six spaces for a special number or name. For example, you may use a birth date (062855), (JU2855), initials (C.R.R.), or a nickname (Jack). You also have twenty-one spaces for a personal message. For example, Happy First Birthday, Love Mom and Dad or Enjoy the Outdoors. Lifetime licenses can be purchased at your local wildlife service agent, online (with a few exceptions), by calling 1-888-248-6834, or by mail from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. A $2 transaction fee as mandated by NCGS 113-270.1B may apply at time of license purchase. You may make a tax deductible contribution directly to the NC Wildlife Endowment Fund or designate the Fund as a beneficiary of a bequest through your will or living trust.
