With the introduction of each new day will come events that were not planned, acquaintances never met afore-time and challenges which will test our inner resolve. Among those events will be the death of someone who has become a part of our everyday landscape. Thus begins our pilgrimage of grief. I call it a pilgrimage, because death forces us to leave the familiar and leads us to live outside of our comfort zone. We are all creatures of habit and with that need for everyday "sameness" is the thought that nothing will ever change. The loss of someone dear to us causes our house of cards to crumble. As we set out on our pilgrimage, we will be introduced to thoughts and feelings which we have never encountered. Keep in mind that no pilgrimage is permanent and that the discoveries along the path of grief will and can be enriching. Even though we do not plan this journey, it is still a part of the path of life we all must face. At certain times in our pilgrimage we will face darkness, depression and even hopelessness, but if we continue to walk, we will fi nd that a bright new day awaits us. Life may never be the same, but it can be good again. After Darkness, Light!
