During 2014, we have made many strides towards our goal of becoming one of the top fraternities on campus and look forward to summer 2016 and the Chi Phi Congress in Madison. We hope to see more alumni around the house in the next couple of years to help us prepare for this exciting event. Kappa Adds 20 New Members This year, the Kappa Chapter stepped up its game in many areas, including recruitment, philanthropic efforts, and Chapter events. We held our most successful recruitment period in our young history, initiating 20 new members this fall. They now begin their journey toward becoming a Kappa Chapter Brother. Recruitment Chairman Emiliano Friare '16 stated, "I have never seen all our active members so excited for recruitment. Everyone was incredibly involved in helping form our biggest pledge class to date. We hope that these new members will continue the tradition of what it means to be a Chi Phi at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and we are very excited to see what they can do." Casino Royale Success The Kappa Chapter has also completely redone its philanthropy. In the past, we felt that our philanthropies were lacking in quality, and in order to give back more to the community, we decided that change was necessary. Therefore, this semester we held our first ever Chi Phi Casino Royale, which included games such as Blackjack, Texas Hold 'em, and Bingo. We raised $4,466, which benefits the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County. We enjoyed seeing alumni support our philanthropy. Philanthropy Chairman Josh Overturf '17 said, "Chi Phi Casino Royale is truly a unique event for our Chapter. We have never done anything like this before, and all the members were excited with how it turned out." Involvement in Greek Community Finally, Chi Phi has kept very involved in the Greek community this past year. In April, Chi Phi and Kappa Alpha Theta placed second in UW-Humorology, a themed musical where all proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County. This year, Chi Phi is paired with Delta Chi and Chi Omega. We also held many alumni events, the biggest being our annual Homecoming tailgate. Homecoming is always a great time to celebrate the alumni who made this fraternity great, and we enjoyed inviting all alumni to return to the house for food and drinks. Historian Ben Howery '15 said, "Homecoming is a tradition Chi Phi holds near and dear. We thank all alumni who came out to help us celebrate this wonderful event." It's a wonderful time for the Kappa Chapter of Chi Phi, and we hope you join us on this great journey.
