Schoenfeldt '76 Michael Kerns '80 Matthew Roethe '93 THANK YOU, DONORS, FOR COMMITTING $524,450 TO KAPPA CHAPTER W e are deeply grateful to the 55 donors listed below for committing $524,450 to The Centennial Campaign for Kappa: Honoring Our Past, Securing Our Future. These Brothers recognize the importance of ensuring the future of Kappa Chapter and have demonstrated a sense of gratitude for their personal experience. Commitments are still needed from the rest of our alumni to achieve our goal and complete this major project. All donors contributing a minimum of $2,500 over a five-year period will be recognized on a plaque prominently displayed in the renovated Chapter House. If an error has been made in recording your gift, or your name has been mistakenly omitted or listed improperly, we sincerely apologize. Please advise our campaign coordinator at (785) 843-1661. and programs are necessary for the Kappa Chapter to remain competitive. The University of Wisconsin campus hosts approximately 30 fraternities, 18 of which have their own housing facilities. At least six of these facilities are newly, or recently, constructed. With the onslaught of new facilities, Chi Phi is facing stiff recruiting competition. Fortunately, we have a classic, nationally historic house located in the heart of the Greek community. Our alumni base is strong, and those who have pledged so far have been extremely generous, but we need the help of every brother if we are to complete our renovation plans and remain a preeminent fraternity at UW. To date, only 55 of our 876 active alumni, or 6%, have made a gift to the campaign. The average percent participation among Greek campaigns is 25%. If an additional 19% of our living alumni, or 170 brothers, contribute a pledge of $4,100 (or $68 a month for five years) we would reach 25% participation and achieve our $1.2 million fundraising goal. Could you become one of the 170 brothers? Remember, all pledges can be made with manageable payments spread over a five year period, and there are three options for how you can designate your gift. (Please consider splitting your gift between the Alumni Association and Red Triangle): • The Alumni Association of Kappa of Chi Phi accepts non-tax-deductible contributions where proceeds are applied to the restoration/remodeling projects necessary to keep the fraternity house competitive. • Red Triangle Foundation Inc. accepts tax- deductible contributions where proceeds are used for improvements to the educational portions of the house and to scholarships for our active members. • The UW Foundation–Red Triangle Fund also accepts tax-deductible contributions where the proceeds are used for scholarships and charitable needs of the fraternity. I have been touched by the numerous stories I have heard about what Chi Phi has meant to many of you. I appreciate the sentiment some have expressed about paying it forward, or giving back to ensure that others can share a fraternity experience that has done so much for us, the alumni. I want to get the Kappa Chapter to the point where it is self-sustaining, where our actives receive the fruits of the alumni generosity, and reciprocate that generosity with future giving of their own. Please help us achieve that goal and use the enclosed pledge card to submit your gift today. In the Bond, Russ Lein '81 rlein@milwaukeerads.com P.S. If you are interested in getting involved with the alumni association, please contact me. We have room for anyone interested in joining the Board of Directors, serving on a committee, or helping with our fundraising efforts. $524,000 Raised foR camPaign (Continued from page 1) Campaign Status at-a-Glace As of October 16, 2014 Goal: $1.2 Million Total Committed: $524,450 Number of Contributors: 55 Participation: 6%
