SIGMACHI 3 LITTLE 500 TOP TEN FINISH Team Looks Forward to Building on Momentum A fter a rebuilding year, the Sigma Chi team was going into the 2014 season with high hopes and a chance to contend for the win. The team consisted of Quinn Rusnak '14, Tim Ryan '17, and me. Both Quinn and I had competed before, but it was Tim's first race. Our game plan was simple, stay on the lead lap at all times and put ourselves in a position to sprint for the victory at the end. Despite racing with only three and our rookie's lack of experience, our determination and commitment to race to our full potential still remained intact. As a team, we were ready for the race due to our extensive preparation, strong coaching, and one of the best training programs on campus. We were the highest placed team with three riders in Sigma Chi history. We faced the challenge of racing with three riders with a realistic perspective and achieved our goal of a top ten finish. Our perseverance throughout the race, positive mentality, and countless support from our coaches, alumni, and fans kept our motivation high and pushed each one of us past our limits to earn a 6th place finish. On the day of Sigma Chi's 20th anniversary of our first and only Little 500 victory—a win would have been a perfect ending. Nearly 50 bike team alumni and supporters gathered for a post-race party, where our race team was applauded for our valiant effort. In Hoc, Brian Arfmann '14 Sigma Chi Little 500 Team Captain Looking for a Few Good Men L ambda Chapter is always looking for new members to join our Fraternity.
