My personal cell number and e- mail are available to all. 2. Of all the Candidates running, I have been a resident the longest, long before Quartzsite was even a Town. If I checked back, I think I have attended at least 80% of all Council meetings over the years since the Town was formed. Been thru all the ups and downs. I own my prop- erty and have a great love for this town. 3. To see we bring back peace and Har- mony. To try and make people under- stand that we have to work under cer- tain rules and laws. Not listen to gossip but seek the truth. To see that we have a workable infrastructure, so we can grow and expand. I am proud of my Town and I want everyone else to be too. 4. Town Hall Meetings, so we can talk to the people and not violate meeting laws. Listen to ideas and follow through on comments offered by our residents. I get tired of hearing, "We tried that and it didn't work." Times have changed; People have changed. Let's look into ways to save funds needed for other more important things. First and fore- most, to listen and do. Monica Timberlake Town Council 1. Communication is integral to the role of a Council Member. I am cur- rently the only council member that can be reached through their town E- mail address. I am available by phone, text, Facebook, and in person. I can also be found at most community func- tions. I am always open to sitting down with someone and having a discussion, listening to others, and considering al- ternative points of view. 2. What makes me different is that I am the only candidate who is current- ly raising a family in Quartzsite. I am LETTERS FROM PAGE 10 aware of the challenges that come with this and I am always looking for ways to improve Quartzsite for our families as well as our seniors and seasonal visi- tors. This gives me a different perspec- tive than the other candidates. I am vested in the long term success of our town, not just for this generation, but the one to follow. The training I have is another thing that sets me apart. I have a Masters in Boardsmanship from the Arizona School Board Association and more than 125 hours of classroom training that carries over to my role as a council member. I have extensive training in open meeting law proce- dures, which have been an issue with our council in the past, as well as par- liamentary procedure and budgeting. I am not afraid to ask questions and I am willing to put the time in that is re- quired of an effective council member. Although I have been on the council for less than a year, I have attended the majority of council meetings for many years and have served on town and or- ganizational boards and have been very involved in the community. 3. My vision is to be part of a coun- cil that is working for the community. Growth is essential to Quartzsite's future and as a council we should be working towards creating year round opportunities for our businesses and residents. I am also excited to continue in the direction we are headed with our new town manager. Town Hall is now more open to not only council members, but to members of the public as well. Is- sues are being handled as opportunities for solutions instead of problems and I'm hearing more of, "How can we do that?" instead of "We can't do that." 4. My plan of action is simple. I plan to make decisions that are in the best interest of the community as a whole. My plan is to have open communica- tion with community members, fellow council members, and town staff. My plan is to treat my constituents with respect and to show by my actions that I am here to improve the community. My plan is to vote in the best interest of Quartzsite, even when that vote is not an easy or comfortable vote. My plan is to put politics and personalities aside and to continue to serve my community with integrity and accountability. Brad Trainer Town Council 1. I am not yet on social media, but the people can contact me by phone, email, or in person. The Town used to provide an offi ce for members of council and I would advocate a reinstatement of that policy. My phone number is 928-257- 0371. I would be happy to answer con- stituent concerns. 2. A few years ago, Quartzsite passed a "Fair and Equitable Treatment Reso- lution" and unlike the incumbents I intend to see it enacted. The town's motto should be "Yes, we can and how can we help you?" Not no, you can't and how can we complicate things. I will not abuse the power of offi ce the way it has been done in recent years and unlike my opponents, I will ask hard questions and require detailed answers from Town staff. The Town Manager works at the will of the council, not the other way around. The input of all citi- zens will be welcome, nobody should be dragged out of Town Hall for voicing their opinion. I hope to work with the other council members to resolve the current lawsuits if possible so that the Town can get back in the insurance pool instead of behaving in a manner that causes more lawsuits to be fi led. I will do the people's business in a transpar- ent manner and not in the backroom. I will promote policy that grows the town in a responsible way and supports the businesses that employ our citizens and bring in the revenue needed to provide necessary services such as water, sewer, and public safety, so that we can become a thriving year around community. I am not part of our existing problems, so I look forward to bringing fresh ideas to the table in order to solve them. 3. An elected representative represents the people, not private interests. I believe the offi ce is one of public service and that is my vision, to serve you, the public, as our founding fathers envisioned. 4. To listen, really listen to the needs and concerns of the people of Quartzsite. My action plan will depend on what policies you want to implement, in light of what is practical and what the town can afford. I believe in "Yellow Pages Governing," which means smaller government and contract- ing out for services to save money. Quartzsite Constable Justice of the Peace Precinct 4: Starr BearCat Constable Jp 4 I am seeking reelection to Constable Justice of the Peace Precinct #4 1. I am very accessible; in person at many community events I attend, prearranged meeting places, E-mail: ConstableBearCat@yahoo.com, and my business phone number is 928-927- 6525, which has voice mail. 2. I am the only candidate in this race that has Constable experience! I believe training is very important and have al- most 100 hours of Law Enforcement Of- fi cer training in less than 2 years, even though Arizona requires only a minimum of 16 hours/year. I'm a member in good standing with Arizona Constable Associ- ation, plus have extensive hours of train- ing/certifi cations by AZPOST. I've built rapport and good working relationships with local agencies. I'm also the only law offi cer in the county with specialized training in extreme terrorism.
